Creating symmetrical facial features and restoring a youthful appearance is achieved by a range of surgical and cosmetic procedures. A person's facial expression doesn't always accurately reflect their true character; a situation especially noticeable when the brow or forehead area is impacted by lines or sagging. If an intense or serious expression is at odds with your true feelings, a brow lift could be the solution.
Also known as a forehead lift, a brow lift assists by reducing horizontal forehead wrinkles, removing unwanted lines between the eyes and smoothing features on the bridge of the nose. A brow lift can also raise the brow to reduce any hooding over the upper eyelids. The eyebrows are also improved, with the overall effect creating a more youthful and alert appearance.
Unsightly wrinkles, frown lines and droopy eyebrows can manifest as we age. Diminishing skin elasticity, sun damage and genetics all play a role in our appearance, but the situation can be reversed. If you are suffering from a misconstrued perception that you ‘look tired’, ‘too serious’ or ‘bored’ you could be a perfect candidate for a brow lift transformation.

Dr Valente uses cutting edge technology and state of the art equipment to produce the best possible surgical results.
Brow lift surgery
Your surgery will commence once medication – either general anaesthesia or intravenous sedation – has been administered.
The incision required to lift your brow can be made in several ways:
Endoscopic incision: An endoscope is a narrow tube with a camera on the end which uses a minimalist approach to locate the muscle and tissue under the hairline. A discreet incision is made within the hairline where it won’t be noticed, then the muscle and tissue is adjusted to correct forehead furrows, lines and creases.
Brow lift recovery and after-care
Immediately after surgery your forehead will be comfortably wrapped or taped in order to minimise any swelling or bruising. There may also be a thin tube fitted to drain away any fluid or excess blood collecting under the skin.
Dr Valente has vast surgical experience, including knowledge of appropriate recovery methods for each individual surgical procedure. He will guide you regarding after-care procedures including caring for the surgical site and fluid drains. He is qualified to prescribe suitable medications that aid healing and reduce the incidence of any potential infection. You will be instructed to keep your head in an elevated position and avoid strenuous physical activity for a designated time. Dr Valente is available for any follow-up advice and reassurance required.
It’s important to avoid excessive motion or force that could affect the healing process. The initial wound will heal within a couple of weeks, and sutures or surgical clips are removed when healing has progressed to the appropriate stage. Most patients are able to recommence work or regular activities when the swelling dissipates after a couple of weeks. Any incision lines, although generally hidden, will continue to diminish and fade over time.
